Deputy Mežulis has resigned from the Smiltene municipal council
Deputy Mežulis has submitted a request for the early termination of his powers in the Smiltene municipal council.
Deputy Mežulis has officially resigned from his position in the Smiltene municipal council by submitting a request for the early termination of his powers on February 16. This decision took effect immediately upon its adoption. Following his resignation, the next candidate from the LZP list who has agreed to accept the deputy mandate is Mārtiņš Veģeris, a coach at the Smiltene children's and youth sports school. In the local elections held last year, three deputies from the LZP list were elected, including Mežulis, who at that time was the head of the Latvian Investment and Development Agency's Ukrainian representation. His resignation follows that of Aigars Veldre, who declined his mandate before beginning any duties, citing the inability to balance deputy responsibilities with his main job at AS "SEB banka" as a financial consultant. Additionally, two more candidates from the LZP list, Māris Zālītis and Signe Baltere, also resigned from accepting their mandates after the elections based on the number of votes received. The next candidate in line is Sanita Briede, who has accepted the appointment and is now part of this council session, ensuring representation following the recent changes within the council.
