S. Malinauskas hinted at his involvement in the upcoming Seimas elections
S. Malinauskas has implied his potential participation in the 2028 Lithuanian Seimas elections, suggesting the need for a new political force to counter Kremlin influence.
In a recent episode of the 15min show 'Let's Discuss with Tadas Ignatavičius', S. Malinauskas discussed his plans regarding the upcoming Seimas elections in Lithuania, slated for 2028. He expressed a strong belief that the Kremlin intends to propose its own candidates in these elections, thus underscoring the necessity for a robust counterforce in the Lithuanian political landscape. Malinauskas emphasized the importance of establishing a new political entity that remains untainted by corruption or scandals to effectively face this challenge.
While Malinauskas did not disclose who might lead this new political movement, he pointed to potential candidates, including figures from the Democratic Party 'For Lithuania', should they consider making significant changes. He highlighted the possible involvement of Europarliament member Virginijus Sinkevičius as a forward-thinking leader. Moreover, he suggested that other prominent individuals, such as ISM rector Dalius Misiūnas and public figure Andrius Tapinas, could also play critical roles in shaping this new political force.
Malinauskas suggested that even certain right-wing factions could win his favor if they underwent a serious cleansing process, removing individuals associated with scandals. The necessity for a clean political slate and effective leadership has become increasingly crucial as Lithuania braces for the upcoming elections, especially given the implications of external threats from entities like the Kremlin.
