Serviti continues winning streak in the championship league
Serviti maintained its winning streak in the Estonian handball championship by defeating Viimsi/Alexela with a score of 38-29.
On Wednesday, the final round of the regular season kicked off in the Estonian Handball league. The league leaders, Põlva Serviti, faced Viimsi/Alexela in an away game that saw a fiercely competitive atmosphere, particularly in the first half where the score was tied at 6-6 after 10 minutes and 14-14 after 23 minutes. Despite Viimsi's strong performance fueled by home support, Serviti managed to establish a lead of 21-17 by halftime and extended their advantage in the second half.
Key players for Serviti included Sander Sarapuu, who scored nine goals, and Hendrik Varul, who added six, securing the match with a final score of 38-29. On the opposing side, Viimsi's Otto Karl and Georg Gustav Kont each scored eight goals, demonstrating their resilience despite the loss. An interesting moment of the match was the collaboration on the court between father and son, Eston and Eke Varusk, who both played for Serviti. Eke recorded a 25% save rate while Eston had a 23% save rate, showcasing a memorable family achievement on the court.
In another match, the Kaitseväe team hosted Viljandi HC, where the contest started evenly with an 8-8 score in the middle of the first half.
