Reports indicate that the operation turned deadly when the monarch resisted, leading to a violent confrontation.

Residents of the area reported that the attackers, armed with firearms, stormed the palace and forcibly attempted to take the monarch. Unfortunately, despite the community's distress call to the police, the situation escalated, and the traditional ruler was found shortly afterward with critical gunshot wounds, underscoring the increasing threat posed by banditry in the region.

The Ondo State police have since launched a manhunt for the armed suspects involved in this violent act. The incident has heightened fears among residents regarding the security situation in Ondo, as banditry and violent crime continue to rise in certain areas of Nigeria, reflecting a troubling trend that authorities are struggling to combat effectively.
