The Šiauliai District Seeks to Dispel the Prevailing Notion About Regions: We Aren't Just Showing Investors a Plot of Land
Šiaulių district leaders emphasize the region's attractive business environment, highlighting advanced production capabilities and job creation.
In a recent discussion, E. Grikšas addressed the misconceptions surrounding regional industries, emphasizing their high technological level and productivity. He pointed out that some companies in the Šiauliai region are using artificial intelligence solutions and have fully automated their production lines, boasting productivity levels that could reach 150% of the European Union's average. This highlights the regional commitment to modernizing its industrial base and challenging the stereotype that there are no well-paid jobs available.
Grikšas also noted the strengths of the Šiauliai region, which include proactive city and district municipalities, developed infrastructure, including Šiauliai Airport, railways, and convenient road connections. Additionally, the presence of a Special Economic Zone (LEZ) and industrial parks creates a solid foundation for attracting new businesses. The ability to provide modern workplaces counters the narrative that regions lack appealing job opportunities, suggesting that the region is making significant strides in its economic appeal.
Artūras Klangauskas, the head of the Šiauliai LEZ, confirmed that the initiation of operations in the region has been successful, particularly with the influx of companies from the metal and plastics sectors. These new businesses are reportedly creating twice as many jobs, which underlines the potential of the Šiauliai region as an attractive destination for investors seeking to capitalize on a modern industrial workforce. This transformation is crucial for changing perceptions and promoting the region as a viable option for investment and economic development, thus fostering a more positive image of Lithuania's regional business environments.
