Men's slopestyle qualification postponed to Friday
The men's slopestyle qualification for freestyle skiing at the Milano Cortina Olympics has been postponed to Friday due to heavy snowfall in Livigno.
The men's slopestyle qualification scheduled for Thursday morning at the Milano Cortina Winter Olympics has been postponed to Friday due to heavy snowfall impacting the competition site in Livigno. This decision was announced by ERR's sports reporter Debora Saarnak, who noted that the severe weather conditions may also hinder the evening women's slopestyle qualification from taking place as planned.
Among the competitors for the men's slopestyle qualification is Henry Sildaru, who was expected to make his third start at the Milano Cortina games. In previous events, Sildaru competed in both slopestyle and Big Air disciplines but unfortunately did not advance beyond the qualification rounds, finishing in 21st place in slopestyle and 22nd in Big Air. The delay in the men's qualification adds additional pressure as athletes must navigate their schedules amid unpredictable weather.
This postponement highlights the challenges facing the 2026 Winter Olympics as organizers must adapt to varying weather conditions while ensuring the safety of the athletes. As the Games progress, it's critical for officials to monitor the situation and potentially adjust schedules for other events to minimize disruptions and maintain a smooth flow in the competition calendar.
