Poor weather disrupts Livigno Olympic schedule
Poor weather conditions have led to the postponement of key events in the Livigno Olympic schedule, affecting both the women's snowboard slopestyle final and men's freestyle aerials qualification.
Weather conditions in Livigno have significantly disrupted the schedule of the Milan Cortina Olympics, leading to the postponement of crucial events. Heavy snow and reduced visibility forced the organizers to delay both the women’s snowboard slopestyle final and the men’s freestyle aerials qualification on Tuesday. Initially scheduled for earlier in the day, key events had to be rescheduled in the hope that conditions would improve soon enough for competitions to take place.
The postponement of the aerials qualification allowed for a shift in the schedule, pushing back the start time for women’s aerials qualifying to 1:45 PM local time from an earlier slot of 11:15 AM. The snowboard slopestyle final, which was to commence at 1 PM local time, also faced a delay, with organizers promising an updated time after assessing the weather. They cited 'unfavorable weather conditions' as the reason for these disruptions, highlighting the impact of weather on outdoor Olympic events.
This disruption marks the second consecutive day that bad weather has affected the Livigno Olympic calendar, as the women’s freeski big air final had already faced delays due to a snowstorm on Monday. With some open days available later in the week, the organizers remain hopeful that the events can be rescheduled before the conclusion of the games on Sunday, showcasing the challenges linked with hosting winter sports events in unpredictable weather.
