The center's swimming pool will only open in June. Competition for the Scarioni

The opening of a municipal swimming pool in the historic center of Milan has been delayed to June 2025 after several postponements.

The planned municipal swimming pool in the historic center of Milan has faced multiple delays since its initial proposal in 2017 during the Pisapia administration. Originally set to open by 2022, the deadline has continually shifted, most recently to a spring 2025 opening. The Sports Councillor, Martina Riva, confirmed that the pool located on Via Fatebenesorelle is now expected to welcome visitors in June after finishing construction and completing the required testing.

Working on the facility has taken time due to various interruptions, but the construction is finally approaching completion. The pool will feature a main swimming area of 12 by 25 meters, a smaller designated kids' pool, locker rooms, a gym, a dining area, and a sunbathing area in the Moscova neighborhood. This project was incorporated as part of urban renewal plans associated with the redevelopment of the former Garage Traversi in San Babila, aiming to enhance local amenities.

In addition to the pool's development, there is promising news about the Scarioni swimming facility, which has been closed since 2019. Go Fit has recently initiated a competition aimed at revitalizing the Scarioni center, indicating potential future improvements for recreational facilities in the area. This development could significantly benefit the local community by reestablishing a long-closed recreational site while enhancing the overall aquatic offerings within Milanโ€™s central districts.
