A Youth Impersonating an NIA Officer Near Red Fort Arrested
A young man posing as a National Investigation Agency officer was arrested near Red Fort in Delhi after being found engaging in suspicious activities.
Delhi's North District Police have arrested a suspicious individual near the Red Fort who claimed to be an officer of the National Investigation Agency (NIA). The accused, identified as Mudassir Ahmad Mir from Pulwama, Jammu and Kashmir, was apprehended while parked in a car with a Jammu and Kashmir license plate. Police noticed his suspicious movements and upon questioning, he presented a fake NIA ID card to justify his presence.
During the investigation, police rigorously interrogated Mir, who eventually revealed his true identity. Further inquiries unveiled that he had been deceiving many young individuals from Kashmir by promising them jobs in the NIA and Delhi Police under false pretenses. This modus operandi involved gaining the trust of local youth, then extracting money from them with the promise of securing employment, marking a significant case of fraud in the area.
The arrest not only highlights the issue of job fraud targeting vulnerable youth in Kashmir but also raises concerns about the safety and authenticity of job offers in sensitive regions. Police have emphasized the necessity for increased vigilance against similar scams and urged the public to report any suspicious activity to prevent exploitation through fraudulent job schemes.
