Mayor Bruno Reis says that the priority is to balance circuits before creating a new route for Salvador's carnival

The Mayor of Salvador, Bruno Reis, emphasized the need to balance the existing carnival circuits before considering a new route for the annual event.

Bruno Reis, the Mayor of Salvador, has stated that addressing the imbalance in audience distribution among the existing carnival circuits is a priority before contemplating the creation of a new route. This announcement comes following reports of overcrowding in the Barra-Ondina and Campo Grande circuits during this year's festivities. The comment was made during an interview with TV Bahia after a press conference highlighting the importance of a safe and enjoyable carnival experience for all attendees.

In response to the overcrowding issues, the Carnival Council (Concar) has formed a committee of architects and professionals to explore the feasibility of relocating the Barra-Ondina circuit to the coastline of the Convention Center, which would extend for approximately four kilometers along Salvador's shore to the Patamares neighborhood. The move aims to alleviate congestion in the city’s core areas during the peak carnival days, notably after the Sunday, February 15, which saw nearly two million attendees across the primary circuits of Pelourinho, Campo Grande, and Barra-Ondina.

This initiative underlines the city's commitment to enhancing carnival logistics and ensuring the safety of its many visitors. As carnival represents a significant cultural and economic activity in Salvador, careful planning and infrastructural improvements are essential for fostering a positive experience while managing the influx of both locals and tourists during this vibrant festival season.
