Major action against Atiq's henchmen, land worth over 1 billion released from illegal possession
Authorities in Prayagraj have freed more than 38 bighas of land worth over 1 billion rupees from illegal possession linked to gangster Atiq Ahmed and his associates.
In Prayagraj, over two years after the murders of mafia figures Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf Ahmed, administrative actions against their gang continue. Recent efforts by the district administration have led to the release of 38 bighas of land, valued at over 1 billion rupees, which was illegally occupied by the gang members. An administrative probe revealed that the land in Nasirpur Silna village had been wrongly documented and seized by the gang, highlighting the enduring influence of the criminal organization even after its leaders have been eliminated.
Under the direction of District Magistrate Manish Kumar Verma, Sub-Divisional Magistrate Abhishek Kumar Singh conducted an investigation into the illegal possession. Following the inquiry, the names of the illegal occupants were annulled, and the land was officially restored to the village council. Notable individuals such as Amanullah, Iqbal Ahmed, Ghulam Gaus, Ishtiyaq Ahmed, and Muhammad Bitniya had previously claimed ownership of this land, showcasing the depth of the gang's infiltration in local affairs.
Additionally, a portion of the reclaimed land is close to the airport, indicating its strategic value likely contributing to its illegal occupation by the gang. The district administration's actions not only aim to reclaim this valuable asset for community use but also signal a strong commitment to dismantling the remnants of organized crime in the region, restoring law and order and enhancing public safety in a community long affected by fear and intimidation from gang activities.
