According to school principal Mari Liikanen, the substances rumored to be circulating include cannabis, LSD in small dissolvable strips, and possibly more potent drugs. She indicated that the information regarding the drug allegations had been brought to her attention by students and their guardians.

The Central Finland Police Department informed that the investigation is centered on drug-related offenses, which might escalate into more severe charges depending on the circumstances of drug procurement and distribution. Reports suggest that there are approximately three to five main individuals involved in these activities. Liikanen has stated that the school has initiated disciplinary measures permissible under basic education guidelines and has reported the matter both to the police and to social services. Students linked to the drug allegations have been referred to student welfare services for further support and assessment.

Emäkoski School, located in Nokiala, serves around 530 students, indicating that the issue of drug use in educational institutions is persistent and concerning, prompting a need for effective intervention strategies.
