Carnaboi brings together thousands in the Magic Island and opens the 2026 Parintins Festival season
Carnaboi, a traditional event in Parintins, Brazil, gathered thousands of attendees, marking the official kickoff for the boi-bumbá season leading up to the Parintins Folklore Festival.
This week, Parintins celebrated another edition of Carnaboi, an event that attracted thousands of attendees and signaled the start of the boi-bumbá season on the island, traditionally leading up to the Parintins Folklore Festival held every June. The festivities featured vibrant floats, a trio elétrico, and live performances from the popular Caprichoso and Garantido competing groups, which energized the crowd along the parade route.
As the lively atmosphere engulfed the audience, fans of both competing teams sang along enthusiastically to the traditional toadas, reminiscent of the competitive spirit seen during the Festival held at the Bumbódromo. Supporters expressed profound emotions, with one indicated, "Garantido is feeling," highlighting the personal connection many have to this cultural event.
The celebrations were part of the Carnailha circuit, a broader program designed to enhance the Carnival experience in the region, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the Amazon while fostering community engagement. The event was not only a festival but also a warm-up for the excitement anticipated in the upcoming Parintins Folklore Festival, drawing attention to the importance of such cultural traditions in Brazilian social life.
