Talks about the planned new railway connection: here’s where it would lead

Lithuania's military mobility projects are advancing with plans for a new railway connection to the Rūdninkai training ground to facilitate troop movements.

Lithuania is making strides in military mobility with a new railway connection being planned to the Rūdninkai training ground, which is essential for transporting troops and equipment efficiently. The news emerged from a meeting of the Economic Committee of the Seimas, where Vytis Žalimas, head of LTG Infra, emphasized the strategic importance of a new double-use cargo area in Palemonas that was recently established. This development aims to aid both the Lithuanian Army and its NATO allies.

Egidijus Lazauskas, General Director of the LTG Group, highlighted that this railway connection could significantly increase passenger flow in the area. He mentioned the potential to arrange transport services for soldiers commuting from the city to Rūdninkai, which could generate an additional one million passengers per year. These enhancements in transport infrastructure are poised to have a substantial impact not only on military logistics but also on civilian travel in the region.

The LTG Group has been focusing on preparing for critical situations and enhancing its service capabilities. The implementation of these projects marks an important step in improving transportation efficiency within Lithuania, thereby reinforcing both military readiness and regional connectivity. This initiative reflects the country's ongoing commitment to strengthen its defense infrastructure and support its allied military forces.
