On Wednesday, January 18, a water pipe burst in the Monte Castelo neighborhood of São José dos Campos, resulting in a sizeable hole in the street and a dramatic water leak. Residents reported that the pipe burst occurred on Vinte e Um de Abril Street during the early morning hours, leading to water gushing out over a meter high, which caused considerable concern and prompted some residents to evacuate their homes temporarily.

Local eyewitnesses described the event as alarming, starting with a minor leak that escalated into a significant surge of water, accompanied by loud bursting noises from the street. The residents were left in a state of worry as the water continued to flow for approximately five hours before the leak was contained around 8 AM. A local resident noted that what started as a manageable issue quickly transformed into a chaotic scene that required immediate attention.
