Uganda: Museveni, Saudi Arabian Delegation Talk Coffee Value Addition
President Museveni met with a Saudi Arabian delegation to discuss enhancing economic cooperation, especially in coffee value addition.
Ugandan President Museveni recently engaged with a high-level delegation from Saudi Arabia at State House in Entebbe, focusing on investment opportunities aimed at strengthening bilateral economic ties. The meeting, led by Ali O. Alswayeh, centered on agriculture, particularly the potential for coffee value addition, which is a significant area of interest for Saudi investors. During the discussions, the delegation expressed gratitude for the meeting and reaffirmed Saudi Arabia's commitment to boosting its investments in Uganda.
President Museveni acknowledged the longstanding cordial relations between Uganda and Saudi Arabia but pointed out that the economic opportunities between the two nations have not been fully tapped into. He emphasized the need for deeper engagement between the two countries to maximize investment opportunities. The discussions are seen as a crucial step towards unlocking new commercial prospects, particularly in the agriculture sector where Uganda has considerable untapped resources that could benefit from foreign investment.
The dialogue over coffee value addition highlights Uganda's strategic position in the global coffee market and underscores Saudi Arabia's interest in diversifying its investment portfolio beyond traditional sectors. This meeting may pave the way for further collaborations and initiatives targeted at enhancing Uganda's agricultural sector, which plays a vital role in the country's economy and rural development.
