The "For Stability!" faction has dissolved in the Saeima after losing members who chose to leave for differing views and issues.
The "For Stability!" faction, one of the seven factions in the Latvian Saeima, has recently dissolved after facing member departures. According to Latvian regulations, a faction must consist of at least five members elected from the same candidate list, and once formed, members cannot switch to another faction. Initially entering the parliament with 11 representatives, the faction has faced significant challenges since its formation in the aftermath of the last elections.
The dissolution was precipitated by several key exits, notably the departure of Jeļena Kļaviņa shortly after receiving her mandate. Kļaviņa had left the faction due to her differing views on various issues, particularly after another member, Viktors Pučka, lost his mandate because of a state language test. Following her departure, Jekaterina Drelinga also left the faction citing her belief that remaining was not the honorable choice, choosing to continue as an independent member.
In 2023, the faction's troubles continued with the exit of Glorija Grevcova, who faced legal issues for providing false information. Her departure marked another significant blow to the faction, which struggled to maintain its integrity and cohesion. The cumulative impact of these departures has led to the eventual dissolution of the faction, indicating a broader instability within Latvian politics and raising questions about the future of similar small factions in the Saeima.
