Prevention at School. Starting the Mini Marathon Among Food, Sports, and Health
The Metropolitan Observatory of Milan is organizing a 'Mini Marathon of Prevention' for middle school students to promote health awareness and preventative measures.
The Metropolitan Observatory of Milan, in collaboration with Women Care Ets and the Spiga Comprehensive Institute, has initiated a 'Mini Marathon of Prevention' aimed at fostering health awareness among young people. This project, which has garnered support from the Lombardy Region and family department, is designed to engage 400 students aged between 11 and 14 and their families in activities that highlight the importance of preventing mental and physical health issues from an early age.
The mini marathon will consist of four events by May, where experts will educate participants on comprehensive prevention strategies involving proper nutrition, physical activity, mental well-being, and social inclusion. Carla De Albertis, a former Health Councilor and now responsible for cultural and social issues at the Metropolitan Observatory, emphasized the importance of instilling healthy habits early on to successfully address potential health challenges.
This initiative reflects a growing awareness in Italy about public health, especially among the youth, and underscores the role of education in promoting a healthier lifestyle. By integrating various aspects of well-being—nutrition, exercise, and psychological support—the project aims to equip students with the tools needed to lead healthier lives and potentially reduce the risk of health problems in the future.
