A reward of 10,000 for the TTE who raped a student in the first AC cabin, took her along under the pretense of providing a seat
A railway TTE (Travelling Ticket Examiner) is wanted in connection with the rape of an NCC cadet aboard a train, with a reward announced for information leading to his arrest.
A troubling case has emerged involving the rape of an NCC cadet by a TTE on the Gorakhpur-Ahmedabad Express train. The incident reportedly occurred when the victim was returning from an examination and entered the first AC coach due to overcrowding, where she was lured into the TTE's cabin under the pretext of being given a seat. Following the crime, the accused, identified as Rahul Kumar, has gone into hiding, prompting authorities to declare a reward of 10,000 rupees for information leading to his capture. The Railway Police are currently engaged in a manhunt to locate him.
The local SP for railways, Lakshmi Niwas Mishra, has confirmed the identification of the accused and noted that he is stationed in the Varanasi division of the Northeast Frontier Railway. Furthermore, steps are being taken to dismiss him from service in response to the heinous act. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are determined to hold the perpetrator accountable while also addressing the serious issues of safety within the railway system, especially for vulnerable passengers like students.
This incident brings to the forefront the need for improved security measures on trains, particularly in higher-class cabins where passengers may feel safer. It raises critical questions about the responsibilities of railway staff and the protective measures in place for passengers, especially women and students traveling alone. The case underscores the urgency of creating a more secure environment for all rail travelers across India.
