Safran plans new landing gear facility in Casablanca

Safran has revealed plans to build a new landing gear manufacturing plant in Casablanca, Morocco, aimed at supporting Airbus A320 production.

Safran, a leading multinational in the aerospace and defense sectors, has announced its intention to establish a new landing gear manufacturing facility within the Casablanca airport precinct. This initiative was unveiled in the presence of Moroccan King Mohammed VI and is led by Ross McInnes, Chairman of Safran’s Board of Directors. The new plant is a significant move for the company, which specializes in producing advanced aerospace technologies including aircraft engines and landing systems.

The new facility represents an investment of over €280 million and will encompass an area of 26,000 square meters, targeting the landing gear needs of short- and medium-haul aircraft. By situating the plant in close proximity to key strategic markets, Safran aims to enhance its manufacturing efficiency and support the increased production of the widely used Airbus A320 aircraft. This alignment with Airbus's production ramp-up illustrates the growing demand for reliable manufacturing operations capable of meeting the aviation industry's evolving needs.

The establishment of this new plant not only signifies Safran's commitment to expanding its capabilities but also reflects Morocco's increasing importance as a hub for aerospace manufacturing. As the country continues to attract foreign investment, the project is expected to create local jobs and foster economic growth in the region. The partnership between Safran and the Moroccan government underlines a collaborative effort to enhance local manufacturing while also reinforcing global supply chains in the aerospace sector.
