Morocco launches project for an aircraft landing gear manufacturing plant
Morocco has launched a project to establish a new aircraft landing gear manufacturing plant in Casablanca as part of its efforts to boost its aviation industry.
On Friday, Morocco announced the launch of a project to create an aircraft landing gear manufacturing plant in Casablanca, in partnership with the French group Safran, with an investment exceeding 280 million euros (approximately 332.4 million dollars). The initiative was presented at a ceremony led by King Mohammed VI at the royal palace in Casablanca, signaling Morocco's ambitions to enhance its position as an industrial hub in the global aviation sector.
The new plant will be located in the integrated industrial platform 'Medpark' in the Nouaceur region of Casablanca and is expected to be one of the largest global centers for manufacturing landing systems related to Safran Landing Systems. The project aims to develop a sophisticated industrial chain that includes precision manufacturing, high-tech assembly, advanced testing, and maintenance, aligning with international aviation standards and enhancing local capabilities.
The factory will focus on the production of aircraft parts specifically for the Airbus A320 model, constructed with the latest technological standards and equipped with modern production mechanisms. Moroccan Industry and Trade Minister Ryad Mezzour highlighted that the facility will cover an area of 7 hectares, reaffirming the country's successful transition into a hub for advanced manufacturing in the aviation sector and underscoring its commitment to industrial development.
