The Balode-Ūdre family will spend the winter in their new home in the countryside for the first time

The Balode-Ūdre family shares their experience of spending winter in their countryside home for the first time amidst challenges and renovations.

Ilona Balode-Ūdre, in an interview with the magazine "Privātā Dzīve," revealed that this year they decided to spend the winter at their farmhouse 'Kalnāres' in Bebrene Parish for the first time after living in it for five years. Ilona describes the decision to winter there without anticipating such a harsh cold, referring to these months as real 'fire baptisms.' Despite the chill, she remains positive, stating that they have a small stove and a heater, though she expects the electricity bill to be significant after the season.

The family is also gradually renovating their large house, acknowledging the financial challenges associated with home improvements. Ilona emphasizes that progress is slow but steady, as they make small steps toward completing the renovations. The warmth of their new country home seems to be more than just about comfort; it represents a family milestone in adapting to rural life and new experiences.

Additionally, Ilona shared that their family has grown with the recent addition of a puppy named Čita, who joins their two dogs and a cat, making their home filled with more life. This update not only reflects the family's transition to a rural lifestyle but also highlights the joys and challenges they face during their first winter in their new surroundings.
