Jürgenson: the speed is there, but we need to show it throughout the rally

Estonian driver Romet Jürgenson expresses optimism about his speed at the World Rally Championship but acknowledges the need for consistency during the events.

Estonian rally driver Romet Jürgenson has shown promising speed in the first two legs of the World Rally Championship, but he emphasizes the importance of maintaining that speed throughout the entire rally. During the Monte Carlo rally, Jürgenson started strong, finishing ninth among two car categories. However, his team faced challenges at the Swedish rally, where they secured a fourteenth place in the WRC2 standings after an incident that forced them to retire partway through the race.

During the Swedish rally, Jürgenson and his teammate Siim Oja both competed in the WRC2 category alongside 27 other cars. Unfortunately, their hopes took a hit during the 12th speed test when they had a crash just meters before the finish line, forcing them to abandon the race for the day. Despite this setback, they returned for the super rally system the following day, managing to achieve a respectable fourteenth place, which provides a glimmer of hope for their future performances.

Reflecting on the weekend's challenges, Jürgenson noted that the positive takeaway was their ability to secure a stage win, which indicates the presence of speed in their performance. However, he reiterated the necessity for the team to find consistency to fully capitalize on their speed potential throughout the lengthy rallies ahead. This consistency will be crucial as they aim for better placements in upcoming events in the highly competitive WRC2 class where Finnish teams dominated the recent rally, taking the top three spots.
