In the Estonian basketball cup quarterfinals, Tartu University Maks & Moorits and TalTech/Alexela successfully secured their spots in the semifinals, leading to an anticipated university derby match. TalTech triumphed over Viimsi with a score of 95-76, showcasing their strong performance throughout the game.
The match began with TalTech facing a challenge as Viimsi initially took the lead in the first quarter, but TalTech made crucial adjustments and dominated the second quarter, outscoring Viimsi 27-14 to take a 10-point halftime lead. Despite a brief resurgence from Viimsi at the start of the second half, TalTech's Oliver Suurorg, with a standout performance including 19 points in the final quarter, solidified their lead and ensured a comfortable victory.
Oliver Suurorg finished the game as TalTech's top scorer with 30 points, including 7 three-pointers, supported by Siim-Markus Post, Tormi Niits, and Oliver Metsalu, who contributed 18, 15, and 14 points respectively. The victory moves TalTech into the semifinals, where they will face Tartu University in a highly anticipated clash between the two educational institutions' basketball teams.
