Joint patrols of Greek and Serbian police in Halkidiki and Zakynthos - Greek police also in Serbia

The Serbian Interior Minister Ivica Dacic has called for simplified checks for Serbian tourists visiting Greece, while joint patrols by Serbian and Greek police are planned in key tourist areas.

The Serbian Interior Minister Ivica Dacic recently met with Greek Minister Michalis Chrisochoidis to discuss enhancing cooperation between the two countries in terms of security measures for Serbian tourists flocking to Greece, especially during the summer months. Dacic's request aimed at simplifying border checks for Serbian nationals traveling to Greece underscores the importance of tourism for both nations and highlights a proactive approach to fostering a secure and welcoming environment for visitors.

Additionally, the two ministers agreed on the necessity of immediate coordination between their respective law enforcement agencies to combat organized crime, emphasizing better information exchange to bolster their effectiveness. This collaboration comes in light of rising concerns about human trafficking and arms smuggling following changes in the geopolitical landscape, particularly with the conclusion of the war in Ukraine, which has impacted criminal networks.

As part of this collaborative effort, Serbian police will be patrolling alongside their Greek counterparts in popular tourist destinations, including Halkidiki and Zakynthos this summer. The initiative not only aims to protect tourists but also to strengthen police relations and ensure that both nations can efficiently address any security issues that arise in these bustling tourist areas, ultimately enhancing the overall experience for visitors from Serbia and beyond.
