79,000 vehicles circulated on the coastal road during carnival holiday, according to CTE

A total of 79,000 vehicles were reported to have traveled on the coastal highway during the carnival holiday in Ecuador, indicating a strong return of holidaymakers.

During the carnival holiday period, approximately 79,000 vehicles were recorded traveling along the coastal highway in Ecuador, particularly directed towards the beach areas in the provinces of Santa Elena and Guayas. The traffic flow was considered moderate on the morning of February 17, primarily at the Chongón toll booth located at kilometer 24.5. Authorities were monitoring the returning holiday traffic, expecting about 19,000 vehicles to return from tourist areas along the coast after the holiday festivities.

The Ecuadorian Transit Commission (CTE) reported that enforcement agents from the CTE, alongside the National Police and Armed Forces, were deployed to ensure safety and security for travelers during this peak time. This coordinated effort highlights the importance of collaboration among various governmental institutions to maintain order and protect the well-being of citizens on the busy roads, particularly after a holiday period when traffic typically surges.

In a statement, Henry Palacios, who heads the Communications and Operational Image area of the CTE, emphasized the cohesive approach of the agencies involved. This ensures that road safety measures are effectively implemented, helping to facilitate a smoother return for the large number of holidaymakers now heading back home. The successful management of this traffic is critical for both public safety and the smooth functioning of the region's transport infrastructure during peak times.
