New Switches: Track Closure Between Munich and Allgäu: Substitute Buses for Commuters
Due to the installation of four new switches, train passengers between Munich and Allgäu will need to switch to buses for several days.
The railway line between Munich and Allgäu will experience disruptions due to maintenance work involving the installation of four new switches. This work will particularly affect the Geltendorf station in the Landsberg am Lech district, where from February 23 to March 4, train services will be suspended completely. In addition to the switch installation, overhead lines along the route to Kaufering will be shut down, allowing only diesel trains to operate.
Passengers traveling on long-distance trains from Munich to Zurich will face significant changes as these trains will only run as far as Lindau-Reutin, missing major stops in Munich, Buchloe, and Memmingen. In response to this disruption, the railway company is providing substitute buses, which will align their schedules with the Eurocity express trains traveling to and from Zurich. This is aimed at minimizing inconvenience and ensuring that commuter connections remain as seamless as possible despite the ongoing work.
Local authorities and the railway are encouraging passengers to plan ahead and account for potential delays, as the adjustments are necessary for safety and infrastructure improvements. The ongoing commitment to upgrading transport infrastructure reflects the region's focus on enhancing connectivity while balancing operational challenges.
