France won the Olympic gold medal in the men's relay for the first time, while Estonia finished in 13th place.
At the Milano Cortina Winter Olympics, France clinched the Olympic title in the men's 4x7.5 km relay for the first time, marking a significant achievement for the nation in the biathlon event. The Estonian team comprised of Rene Zahkna, Kristo Siimer, Mark-Markos Kehva, and Jakob Kulbin secured the 13th position in the competition after a challenging series of performances. Rene Zahkna, who started the first leg, finished his segment with a shooting error, coming in 13.7 seconds behind the leading Norwegian team and handing over to Kristo Siimer in eighth place, trailing by 34.4 seconds. Siimer faced his own hurdles, using a spare round in each shooting round, but managed to exit the final shooting stage in seventh position, albeit 35 seconds behind the top competitors. Despite their efforts, the Estonian team could not bridge the gap, while France's strong performance in the relay, especially from Emilien Jacquelin, propelled them to victory. This event highlighted both the strengths and weaknesses of the teams involved, reflecting the competitive nature of international biathlon.
