Christos Mavrikis: Prosecuted for six offenses – Referred to trial

Christos Mavrikis faces multiple charges including illegal possession of a weapon and threatening behavior, after being arrested for his involvement in a shooting incident.

Christos Mavrikis, a 75-year-old man known for his previous legal troubles, has been charged with six offenses including illegal possession of a flare gun, unlawful ammunition possession, reckless use of a firearm, and threats. The charges stemmed from an incident in Spata where he reportedly discharged a weapon. Following his arrest, he was taken to the Immediate Single-Member Court for a trial, which has been postponed until the next day, during which he remains in custody.

In a court appearance, Mavrikis requested not to be held in detention until the trial, arguing that he wanted to present documents proving that his possession of the flare gun was legitimate. He emphasized that he had not violated any conditions of his earlier confinement, as he was already under house arrest with an electronic bracelet due to previous charges related to bribery of a high-ranking judge.

Mavrikis, who has garnered public attention due to his controversial background and moniker "the main bug" for his previous offenses, continues to face serious legal challenges. His case highlights issues around gun possession laws and public safety, as well as the legal proceedings surrounding individuals with past criminal records in Greece.
