7.7 million euros will be available to Latvian farmers in subsidies this year
Latvian farmers will have access to 7.7 million euros in subsidies this year for various agricultural initiatives.
This year, Latvian farmers will benefit from a total of 7.7 million euros in subsidies aimed at enhancing agricultural productivity. The allocated funds include over 5 million euros for the development of livestock, around 700,000 euros for crop development, and additional amounts designated for international cooperation and market promotion. Other financial support is also earmarked for educational improvements within the agricultural sector.
The Ministry of Agriculture (ZM) has indicated that the primary objective of these subsidies is to facilitate the production of high-quality livestock and crop products while enhancing the competitiveness of agricultural enterprises. The funding will support a range of initiatives, including breeding efforts, the maintenance of plant gene banks and databases, testing of plant varieties, and soil monitoring, among others. These measures are crucial in propelling Latvia's agricultural sector forward.
The upcoming deadline for submitting applications for a portion of these support measures is set for March 2, further emphasizing the ministry's proactive approach toward fostering agricultural development in the region. This investment is expected to create a positive impact on local farmers and contribute to the overall growth of the agricultural industry in Latvia.
