Support Available for Agricultural and Food Product Producers to Participate in Food Quality Schemes

Agricultural producers and food processing companies in Latvia can access €2.452 million in support for participating in food quality schemes as announced by the Rural Support Service.

Latvia's agricultural producers and food processing entities can now benefit from a total of €2.452 million in support aimed at facilitating their participation in strategic food quality schemes. This financial aid, as detailed by the Rural Support Service (LAD) in the official publication 'Latvijas vēstnesis', is part of the European Union’s European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development intervention for the 2023-2027 Common Agricultural Policy strategic plan.

The primary objective of this support is to encourage the engagement of agricultural producers and food processing companies in food quality schemes, thereby enhancing the production, processing, and retailing of high-quality food products. These initiatives are crucial for not only improving product standards but also strengthening competitiveness in both local and EU markets.

To be eligible for this support, applicants must be actively involved in organic farming schemes, the national food quality scheme, protected geographical indications, or traditional specialty guaranteed schemes. Participation in these programs is intended to bolster the quality and marketability of food products, aligning with broader EU goals for agricultural sustainability and quality enhancement.
