During the carnival festivities in Salvador, a man suspected of international and interstate drug trafficking was captured by law enforcement on February 16. His arrest was carried out in the Jardim das Margaridas neighborhood as part of coordinated efforts between police forces. The Civil Police reported that this individual is also under investigation for involvement in drug trafficking associations.

The investigation was led by the Federal Police in Mato Grosso do Sul, which gathered evidence implicating the man in criminal activities. Surveillance teams from the Department of Specialized Criminal Investigations were monitoring him throughout the carnival celebrations. Notably, he was spotted on top of a trio elétrico, a mobile stage used during carnival parades, highlighting his brazen behavior amidst the vibrant public festivities.

Following his arrest, the suspect was taken to the Inter-State Police Coordination (Polinter), where he faced a previously issued preventive arrest order. This legal action stemmed from a judicial decision from Ponta Porã in Mato Grosso do Sul. His arrest underscores ongoing efforts by Brazilian authorities to combat drug trafficking and maintain public safety during major cultural events like carnival.
