Small and Medium Enterprises: 20 million euros for strengthening in continental areas of Fair Development Transition
The Greek government is launching a 20 million euro initiative to support small and medium-sized enterprises in specific regions undergoing an energy transition.
The Greek Ministry of National Economy and Finance has announced a new initiative entitled ‘Strengthening Existing Small and Medium Enterprises in the Continental Areas of Fair Development Transition’, which carries a total public expenditure of 20 million euros. This program, spearheaded by Deputy Minister Nikos Papathanasis, specifically targets very small and small enterprises operating in Western Macedonia and certain municipalities in the Peloponnese region, namely Megalopolis, Oichalia, Gortynia, and Tripoli, which are all part of the energy transition process.
This action represents a strategic intervention aimed at facilitating essential investment needs that pertain to the modernization and operational upgrading of existing businesses. It focuses on encouraging investments in cutting-edge technologies, digital systems, enhancement of production processes, and energy conservation. By providing financial support for these areas, the initiative aims to promote the modernization of businesses and diversification of products to ensure that they can adapt to the changing market demands and environmental considerations.
Through this program, the Greek government hopes to foster a more resilient and competitive business environment in regions that are particularly affected by changes in energy production and consumption. This targeted support not only aims to sustain these businesses but also to enhance their capabilities in contributing positively to the economy amidst the challenges posed by the energy transition. Such measures are crucial for enabling regions that are transitioning to greener energy solutions to maintain economic stability and growth.
