The Zero Waste HORECA initiative, funded by The Coca-Cola Foundation and supported by the Ministry of Environment and Energy, recognizes 425 businesses in Greece for their efforts to reduce their environmental impact.
The "Zero Waste HORECA" program, financially supported by The Coca-Cola Foundation and in collaboration with the Ecological Recycling Society, aims to create an environmentally responsible operating model for the hospitality and food service sectors. This initiative culminated in the "Zero Waste HORECA Awards 2026," where 425 businesses from across Greece were honored for their outstanding performance in reducing their environmental footprints.
During the awards ceremony, which took place at the annual HORECA 2026 exhibition, awards such as Gold, Silver, and Bronze Zero Waste HORECA distinctions were given to recognize the significant contributions of these businesses towards sustainability. Additionally, ten businesses were awarded cash prizes for their innovative initiatives that prioritized environmental reduction strategies, showcasing a commitment to sustainable development in the industry.
This event, now in its fourth consecutive year, highlights the growing importance of sustainability within the hospitality sector in Greece, signaling a shift towards environmentally-conscious practices. The recognition of businesses that actively engage in waste reduction practices not only promotes greener operations but also sets a benchmark for others in the industry, potentially influencing broader changes in environmental policies and business models throughout the region.
