DN: Rød-Larsen shared confidential UN document with Epstein

Terje Rød-Larsen allegedly shared confidential UN documents with Jeffrey Epstein, including an internal report on Middle Eastern protests.

A recent investigation by Dagens Næringsliv has revealed that Terje Rød-Larsen shared confidential United Nations documents with Jeffrey Epstein in 2011. One of these documents was an internal report from the UN’s Peacekeeping Situation Centre detailing the handling of protests in the Middle East. Additionally, Rød-Larsen shared another document pertaining to a conversation between former UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and Turkey’s then-foreign minister, which was also meant to remain confidential within the UN.

The records were obtained from a close aide of Rød-Larsen, French diplomat Fabrice Aidan, who is currently under scrutiny by the French Foreign Ministry for his role in this matter. Both documents have become part of the so-called Epstein files that were made public by the U.S. Department of Justice on January 30. Stephane Dujarric, the spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General, remarked that the notes from the mentioned conversation are indeed confidential, emphasizing a breach of UN protocol in their sharing.

The implications of these revelations could be significant, as they raise questions about confidentiality and the integrity of communications within the United Nations. This incident not only tarnishes Rød-Larsen’s reputation but also brings renewed focus on the controversial figure of Epstein and the extensive network of influential contacts he maintained, highlighting the potential risks of confidential information leaking into the hands of individuals with questionable ethics or motives.
