Ingar Dubolazov Appointed Director of Tallinn Central Russian High School

Ingar Dubolazov has been appointed as the new director of Tallinn Central Russian High School, effective from March 1.

The Tallinn City Government has confirmed the appointment of Ingar Dubolazov as the new director of Tallinn Central Russian High School, starting March 1. Dubolazov has previously been responsible for the transition to Estonian-language education at the national level, bringing valuable experience to this role. His appointment follows the dismissal of the previous director, Sergei Teplov, who was removed due to breaches of trust related to the provision of false information.

The circumstances surrounding Teplov's dismissal were notably serious, with Andrei Kante, the city's deputy mayor for education, citing significant personnel issues at the school. Reports indicated that not only was Teplov dismissed, but eight teachers also resigned almost immediately thereafter, having failed to meet legal language proficiency requirements. This disconnect highlighted ongoing challenges within Tallinn Central Russian High School that needed to be addressed swiftly.

Following Teplov's removal, the Tallinn Education Department conducted a competition to find a suitable replacement, with the commission interviewing four candidates on January 27. Each candidate provided a brief introduction and outlined their vision for the educational institution, helping the committee make an informed choice. Dubolazov's experience is expected to aid in stabilizing the situation and improving the school's administration and educational quality.
