According to the developer, work is underway to build a spa near Tartu Lõunakeskus
The construction of a spa near Tartu Lõunakeskus is in progress, promising to be the largest of its kind in Estonia and the nearby regions.
There has been ongoing discussion regarding the development of a water center near Tartu Lõunakeskus, which is set to become the largest facility of its type in both Estonia and the surrounding areas. The project is currently in the detailed planning phase; however, the developer has not provided extensive details about the progress. In addition to the water center, the plans include accommodation options and parking facilities at the site located at Riia Street 195, stemming from a decision made in spring 2020 when the development company won a land auction organized by the city of Tartu.
Initially, the complex was expected to be completed by 2025, but that deadline has not been met. Although there was an existing detailed plan dating back two decades, a new detailed planning process was initiated for the spa and water center project in the summer of 2024. The decision aims to reassess all options for the development and create solutions that reflect the current needs and conditions in Tartu.
This project aligns with the growing trend of wellness tourism and infrastructure development in Estonia, addressing the increasing demand for recreational facilities in the region. The establishment of this spa is expected to not only enhance local tourism but also provide residents with more leisure options, thus contributing positively to the community's economic and social landscape.
