Unnao: Reports of UP Board exam papers getting wet turned out to be rumors
In Unnao, rumors regarding exam papers getting wet were confirmed to be false after a truck overturned, which was empty at the time.
In a report from Unnao, Uttar Pradesh, an incident occurred Monday morning where a red DCM truck overturned into a pond near Bir Singhpur village. The District School Inspector, Sunil Datt, confirmed that the vehicle was transporting high school and intermediate exam question papers to examination centers and was returning safely after delivering them. No exam materials or papers were on board at the time of the accident, and some personnel and security staff sustained minor injuries.
The education department clarified that the rumors of the exam papers getting wet are completely baseless, indicating that the accident took place during the empty return trip after the papers had already been distributed. In light of the confusion, DIOS Sunil Datt wrote a letter to the District Magistrate, Gourang Rathi, to set the record straight regarding the circumstances of the incident. He provided details that on February 15, two trucks, one red (UP32 CZ 8927) and one white (UP43 T 2766), were sent with police protection carrying confidential documents. The white DCM that some media depicted carrying papers is, in fact, safe and stationary.
The incident has shed light on the importance of verifying information before dissemination, particularly in the context of sensitive subjects such as examinations. The quick resolution of this situation by the education department helps to mitigate public concern and ensures that candidates are clear about the status of their papers during the examination period. It also highlights the potential for rumors to affect public perception and the necessity for responsible reporting.
