Two men are arrested on suspicion of stealing gym weights in downtown Campos
Two men were arrested in Campos dos Goytacazes, Brazil, for allegedly stealing weights from a gym.
On Monday morning (February 16), two men were caught in the act of stealing gym weights in downtown Campos dos Goytacazes, located in the Northern Fluminense region of Brazil. Police officers from the 'Operação Segurança Presente' were patrolling the area near the 8th Military Police Battalion when they noticed the two suspects carrying wrapped objects on their heads. Upon further investigation, the officers discovered that the objects were gym weights, leading to immediate questions about their source.
During the questioning, the suspects claimed to have found the weights near Jardim São Benedito. However, officers proceeded to a nearby gym and confirmed that the weights in the suspects' possession matched the brand and weight of those reported missing. This discovery strengthened the police's suspicion of theft, prompting the arrest of the two individuals who were then taken to the 134th Police Station for further processing.
At the police station, the suspects were formally charged with theft under Article 155 of the Brazilian Penal Code and are currently being held in custody as the legal proceedings unfold. This incident highlights ongoing issues of theft and public safety within the urban areas of Campos dos Goytacazes, drawing attention to the effectiveness of police operations in addressing such crimes.
