A 60-year-old man was arrested for assaulting his partner and storing illegal firearms in Campos dos Goytacazes, Brazil.

On Friday, a 60-year-old man was apprehended in Campos dos Goytacazes after allegedly assaulting his partner on Estrada de Lagoa de Cima. The incident came to light when the victim contacted the Military Police to report the aggression. Following her denuncation, police arrived at the scene, confirmed the report, and proceeded to search the suspect's residence with proper authorization.

During the search, officers discovered three shotguns, including one caliber 20 and two calibers 36, along with 111 intact cartridges, approximately 280 primers, and a container with gunpowder. This cache of weapons raised alarms, emphasizing the serious nature of the incident not only due to domestic violence but also the potential threat posed by the unauthorized weapons.

The couple was taken to the Specialized Women’s Police Station (Deam), where the man was booked for bodily harm under Brazil's Maria da Penha Law—designed to protect women from domestic violence—and for illegal possession of firearms. He is currently held at the court's disposal, highlighting ongoing concerns about domestic abuse and firearm regulations in Brazil's North Fluminense region.
