Unidirectionality on a section of the Alóag-Santo Domingo this Tuesday, the last holiday of Carnival
The Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas Prefecture has announced that the Alóag-Santo Domingo road will be unidirectional on the last day of the Carnival holiday to ensure smooth traffic flow.
The Prefecture of Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas has implemented a unidirectional traffic flow on the Alóag-Santo Domingo road on Tuesday, February 17, which marks the final day of the Carnival holiday. This measure aims to optimize the movement of vehicles on a road that sees daily traffic of between 7,000 and 10,000 vehicles. The road, which stretches 101 kilometers, connects the highlands of Pichincha with the coastal province of Santo Domingo, serving as a crucial transport link for both regions.
The unidirectional flow, which will be in effect from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, will allow vehicles to move only from Santo Domingo to Alóag in the designated section, specifically the 28.5 kilometers managed by the Prefecture. This decision underscores the Prefecture's commitment to facilitating safe and efficient travel for residents and visitors during peak traffic periods, particularly during holidays when travel demand increases significantly.
In addition to easing congestion, the Prefecture has advised that heavy vehicles must take alternative routes during this period. By managing traffic direction strategically, local authorities hope to prevent potential bottlenecks and ensure that the holiday rush does not hinder transportation and accessibility across this vital road network.
