Costume Will Be the First Tiebreaker in the SP Carnival
In the São Paulo Carnival, costume will serve as the initial tiebreaker if samba schools receive the same score.
The upcoming São Paulo Carnival has introduced a significant change in its scoring system, whereby the costume will be the first criterion for resolving ties among samba schools in the Special Group. This decision was announced following a meeting with the presidents of 14 samba schools at the LigaSP's headquarters, where the order of the nine evaluated criteria was drawn. The importance of the costume as a tiebreaker reinforces the creative effort put into each school's presentation.
The official results determining the champion of the São Paulo Carnival will be announced on the afternoon of Tuesday, the 17th, and will be broadcast live by TV Globo. As per the established procedure, judges will evaluate each school's performance based on nine criteria, including evolution, samba-enredo, and the highly anticipated fantasy. Each criterion will be assessed by four jurors, and any lowest scores will be disregarded unless a tie occurs in the total points, in which case they could come into play as deciding factors.
This regulation by LigaSP ensures that creativity and originality in costumes are prioritized when schools achieve equal scores, adding a new layer of excitement to the Carnival. Participants and spectators alike are eager to see how this will influence the performances, as schools aim not only for high scores but also for standout costumes that can differentiate them in case of a tie.
