Scoring of São Paulo's Special Group Carnival parades begins with few scores of 10 in the evolution category
The scoring for the Special Group parades of São Paulo Carnival started with few perfect scores, with Mocidade Alegre and Tom Maior leading in specific tiebreaker criteria.
The evaluation of the Special Group’s Carnival parades in São Paulo has commenced, revealing a lack of perfect scores in the evolution category. No school achieved the maximum score of 10 across all judges, indicating a highly competitive environment for the participating samba schools. The preliminary results showed Mocidade Alegre and Tom Maior in a favorable position, benefiting from tie-breaking criteria after the first round of scoring.
During the evaluation, schools such as Mocidade Alegre, Gaviões da Fiel, Acadêmicos do Tatuapé, and Tom Maior finished strong with scores of 30 in the evolution category, while Rosas de Ouro faced a slight penalty impacting their performance. The scoring format allows for the lowest score to be discarded, which influences the overall ratings significantly, demonstrating the importance of achieving consistency across categories to secure top placements.
Judging for the evolution category was undertaken by a panel of four jurors, with comparisons to the samba-enredo category, where Mocidade Alegre maintained a lead with four perfect scores. The updates will continue as the results are finalized and schools’ performances in subsequent categories are assessed, setting the stage for a dramatic continuation of this year’s Carnival festivities.
