Aigro: unfortunately, we were a few meters short
Artti Aigro and Kaimar Vagul finished 13th in the men's pairs competition at the Milano Cortina Winter Olympics.
At the Milano Cortina Winter Olympics, Estonian ski jumpers Artti Aigro and Kaimar Vagul competed in the men's pairs event, finishing 13th overall. The competition posed significant challenges for the athletes as they aimed to break into the top twelve, a feat that proved difficult. Both Aigro and Vagul reflected on their performances, acknowledging that while they were pleased with some aspects, they ultimately fell short of their goals.
Artti Aigro noted that his performance in the competition was an improvement over his earlier individual event, despite encountering a number of timing issues during both practice and competition rounds that affected their distance jumps. Kaimar Vagul echoed this sentiment, stating that his jump felt better than in the individual competition, yet he recognized that the overall level of competition was high, making advancement impossible in this particular event.
The duo approached this competition without a concrete strategy, having previously jumped in the same order in summer practices and decided to maintain that for the Olympics. Although they did not set definitive goals, their experience in the pairs event proved to be a challenging yet valuable part of their Olympic journey, showcasing the competitive nature of the sport and the high stakes at major international events like the Olympics.
