Another terrifying fall - Finnish athlete fell from a height of 40 meters and lost consciousness

A Finnish athlete experienced a severe fall during the 'Big Air' qualification event, losing consciousness after plummeting 40 meters.

In a shocking incident during the Olympic qualifying rounds for the 'Big Air' discipline, an 18-year-old Finnish athlete suffered a significant fall after attempting a tricky maneuver off a ramp at approximately 40 meters high. Regrettably, his attempt to execute a trick went awry, leading him to lose body control and crash headfirst onto the ground.

Following the fall, medical personnel rushed to assist the athlete, who had lost consciousness initially. Thankfully, after a short period, he regained awareness and managed to signal to the cheering crowd with a thumbs-up, although he had sustained some facial abrasions. The Finnish team later confirmed that the athlete, who is undergoing medical supervision, is not in life-threatening condition.

This incident marks the Olympic debut of E. Lajunen, who has previously competed in the 2025 World Championship, placing 31st in the freestyle skiing 'slopestyle' event and 32nd in the 'Big Air' category. His experience highlights the risks associated with extreme sports, especially at such high levels of competition, reminding audiences and fellow athletes of the inherent dangers involved in these thrilling yet perilous disciplines.
