A tragic accident occurred on SC-477 between Canoinhas and Major Vieira, where Edson Leandro Freitas Bravin, a 33-year-old passenger, died after the vehicle overturned and fell into a flooded area. The incident took place on Sunday, and when responders arrived, the car was found overturned with the wheels facing up, submerging Edson partially in water. Emergency services, including the Corpo de Bombeiros, were able to retrieve him, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

During the investigation, the driver maintained that the car veered off the road due to an unknown reason, resulting in the vehicle flipping over and landing in the floodwaters. He reported that Edson was conscious immediately after the crash, which led to suspicions regarding the cause of death possibly being drowning. The driver, who was giving Edson a ride to Canoinhas, also admitted to consuming alcohol prior to operating the vehicle, raising further concerns about the circumstances surrounding the accident.
