A driver tragically died after losing control of his vehicle and falling into a deep river in SΓ£o Paulo, Brazil.
A tragic accident occurred in SΓ£o Paulo, Brazil, when a 65-year-old driver lost control of his car while crossing a bridge on the Raposo Tavares Highway, leading to the vehicle plunging into a river at a depth of 15 to 20 meters. The accident took place between the municipalities of ItaΓ and Paranapanema on the afternoon of Saturday, 14th. The Body of Firefighters reported that the driver was alone at the time of the incident.
The car was submerged and could not be seen from the surface, making the recovery of the driver's body challenging. Divers were dispatched to the scene and worked meticulously to locate and bring the victim to the surface. The driver reportedly spent around 50 minutes underwater before being found, and pronounced dead upon recovery. Emergency services indicated that the vehicle itself remains submerged in the river and will require specialized equipment for its retrieval in the upcoming days.
In the aftermath of the accident, the body of the driver will undergo necropsy examination at the Medical Legal Institute (IML). This incident underscores the dangers that can arise from driving conditions and serves as a reminder of the importance of road safety, especially in areas with challenging terrains and structures such as bridges.
