Wife Ordered Husband's Murder Over Affair With Brother-in-Law, Paid One Lakh Rupees

A shocking incident from Godda district reveals a wife's betrayal as she conspired with her brother-in-law to murder her husband. The crime, which took place on the night of January 27-28, 2026, resulted in the brutal death of 32-year-old Amit Modi, who was attacked with a sharp weapon. In response to the gravity of the situation, the Superintendent of Police Mukesh Kumar formed a special investigation team led by Sub-Divisional Police Officer Chandra Shekhar Azad to delve into the case further.
Investigations uncovered that Amit's murder was premeditated by his wife, Soni Devi, and her lover, Rohit Modi, Amit's younger brother. The couple had been involved in a romantic relationship for the past five to six years and had plotted to kill Amit to enable their marriage thereafter. This revelation has sent shockwaves through the local community, underlining a startling betrayal of familial trust and love.
The police disclosed that Rohit Modi had offered a contract of one lakh rupees to Mohammad Shaheen Alam to carry out the murder. Additionally, Mohammad Shaheen hired his neighbor, Vijendra Paswan (alias Bindo), for 25 thousand rupees to assist in the deed.
