Franciacorta, the estate despite pessimism

Franciacorta's 2025 wine sales reflect stability amidst a challenging economic landscape, maintaining strong pricing strategies even as consumption remains cautious.

In 2025, the Franciacorta Consortium reported a year characterized by resilience, according to the Economic Observatory. The overall economic and geopolitical landscape remains complex and challenging, yet the wine region of Brescia managed to maintain its position in the market. Total sales reached over 18.9 million equivalent bottles, experiencing a slight decline of just 1% from 2024. This minimal fluctuation highlights both the challenges faced and the region's ability to weather them without significant losses.

Despite cautious consumer behavior, Franciacorta continues to uphold its pricing strategy. The average shelf price remains steady at 24.45 euros, even as promotions become a common strategy in response to stagnating demand. By choosing to maintain their pricing rather than utilizing aggressive promotional tactics, the Franciacorta region effectively reduces volume sales while preserving its market positioning, indicating a strategic focus on brand value rather than mere quantity sold.

The Italian market remains the predominant force for Franciacorta wines, accounting for 87.2% of total sales, while exports constitute 12.8% but have seen a 5.3% increase in 2025. This growth in exports suggests a promising opportunity in international markets, balancing the more dominant domestic sales. Overall, Franciacorta's approach amid economic challenges emphasizes long-term brand sustainability over short-term sales volume fluctuations.
