Thief spends the night in a jewelry store inside a mall and steals half a million in jewelry; video

A man stole approximately R$ 500,000 worth of jewelry from a store in a shopping mall in Goiânia after waiting for the mall to close.

In a brazen heist, a man stole around R$ 500,000 in jewelry from a shop in a northern Goiânia mall, waiting for the center to close before executing his plan. The suspect entered the jewelry store through a hole he made in the wall connecting it to an adjacent shop, as reported by TV Anhanguera. Security footage showed the thief inside the store for approximately 12 hours before making his escape, which occurred around 11:30 AM the following day.

The incident unfolded late Saturday night when the mall was closing down. The thief was recorded by security cameras, sitting and waiting for the shopping area to clear out. He took full advantage of the situation, slipping into the jewelry store through the gap he had created earlier in the wall. The owner of the jewelry shop expressed concerns about the security of the shopping center, given that such an entry point could be exploited in future crimes.

Authorities have confirmed that the Civil Police are investigating the theft and are analyzing the security footage for any clues that might lead to the suspect's identification and arrest. This incident raises questions about mall security protocols and the safety measures in place to protect retail establishments within these commercial spaces.
